Tom Morello Compares Donald Trump to a ‘Segregationist’ + ‘Frat-House Rapist’
Ever since Prophets of Rage was put together, Tom Morello has been utilizing the group as a weapon against presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. In a new video, Morello goes nuclear on Trump, likening him to a “segregationist,” “napalmist” and a “frat-house rapist.”
Prophets of Rage is the instrumental section of Rage Against the Machine joined by Public Enemy's Chuck D and DJ Lord and Cypress Hill rapper B-Real. They’ve been playing a select mix of each band’s discography and even composed an original track, “The Party’s Over.”
With his “Make America Rage Again” cap and political fury through music, Morello’s sentiments resonate with many, but his latest comment may turn out to be his most divisive. Morello recorded a short clip to promote his appearance on Ryan Harvey’s version of the lost Woodie Guthrie song “Old Man Trump.” Donald Trump’s father, Fred C. Trump, was actually Guthrie’s landlord when the iconic folk singer rented a Brooklyn apartment back in 1950. Guthrie would write, “I suppose Old Man Trump knows / Just how much racial hate he stirred up,” accusing Fred Trump of only renting Beach Haven properties to white people. The Trumps would later be sued by the Justice Department for discrimination against black individuals.
In Tom Morello’s short video (see above) he states, "I'm standing up against Old Man Trump. When it comes to race relations, he's like an old-school segregationist. When it comes to foreign policy, he's like an old-school napalmist. When it comes to women's issues, he's like a frat-house rapist. So let's not elect that guy and I want you to stand up against Old Man Trump, too.”
