San Angelo Police Need Help Locating 9/11 Memorial Vandal
The 9/11 Memorial Monument located near the Concho River was destroyed sometime this weekend and police are searching for the person(s) responsible for this disgraceful act.
This monument, located right below the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts on the hill going toward the Celebration Bridge, is very unique in that it is one of the few in the state of Texas that has a piece of steel that was acquired from the World Trade Center, Ground Zero in New York City. The piece of steel was stolen and the monument damaged. The monument was dedicated Sept. 8, 2003 in memory of those who lost their lives on that terrible day of terrorism.
Several community events occurred over the weekend and Police believe someone in attendance may have witnessed the incident.
