Catelynn Stark was Mrs. Granger, and the Archmaester first started teaching at Hogwarts before the Citadel. See what other actors went from Wizards to Westerosi. Whether you're walking through the streets of Kings Landing or taking a stroll through Hogsmeade, you may see some familiar faces. A lot of the seasoned actors across the pond have been called upon to play some of our favorite characters from the fantasy genre. There are some that are easily recognizable, like how Mr. Filch is really Walder Frey but others are harder to recognize for their previous Harry Potter roles. Check out this list of some of the Game of Thrones characters you might recognize from their Harry Potter history.

Michelle Fairley

Many fans know Michelle Fairley as the OG Lady of Winterfell, Catelyn Stark. What some might not recognize her from is a small role she had in one of the biggest book and movie franchises out there. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, Fairley plays Hermione Granger's mother in a scene where she erases her parent's memories, to protect them from the Dark Lord.

David Bradley

David Bradley is all smiles in the photo below but in both of his roles smiles were rare for the actor. In Harry Potter, Bradley played Argus Filch, the crotchety old caretaker at Hogwarts. In Game of Thrones, he played Walder Frey, the Lord of House Frey who conspired with the Lannisters to have the Starks killed at the Red Wedding.

Natalia Tena

When I first watched Game of Thrones, I couldn't place my finger on why I liked the character of Osha so much. She was witty, funny and had a brave aura about her. It wasn't until I rewatched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for the 100th time that I realized Natalia Tena played both Osha and Tonks, one of my favorites in the Harry Potter novels.

Jim Broadbent

Jim Broadbent's eyes looked familiar to me while watching Game of Thrones and his voice was comforting and familiar. It wasn't until the end of Season 7 that I was finally able to remember what those eyes reminded me of. The scene where Professor McGonagall tells the Slytherin House to choose what side they're on  and the look on Professor Slughorn's face is something I always remember. As Arch Maester Ebrose he's still teaching expect for this time its the newest maester in Westeros.

Ciarin Hinds

While Mance Rader is easily recognizable without his Wildling clothing, his Harry Potter character is less noticeable. In the final Harry Potter film, Hinds played Aberforth Dumbledore, Albus' brother who helps Harry get back into the Hogwarts castle.

Freddie Stroma

If you loved the Quidditch scenes, you probably recognized Freddie Stroma. Stroma played the pompous Cormac McLaggen, who wanted not only Ron Weasley's girl but his spot on the Quidditch team. The first time we meet Dickon Tarly, the role is played by Stroma, but next time we see him a new actor played the part.

Ralph Ineson

Evil is as evil does and Ralph Ineson is good at playing an evil dude. In Harry Potter, he plays one of the Dark Lord's followers Amycus Carrow, who also teaches at Hogwarts when Professor Snape becomes headmaster. In Game of Thrones, Ineson played Dagmer Cleftjaw, an iron borne in service of House Greyjoy. He betrays Theon and gives him to the Boltons, which leads to years of torture for Theon.

Julian Glover

While Julian Glover is easily recognizable as Grand Maester Pycelle in GOT, you wouldn't recognize him from his Harry Potter days. Mostly because he's a giant arachnid. Glover was the voice of Hagrid's pet spider Aragog in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Bronson Webb

This actor played a small role in the Harry Potter movies as a Slytherin schoolboy but is more recognizable for his role in Game of Thrones. Mostly because he was the one who tried to warn everyone about the White Walkers before Ned Stark cut his head off for abandoning the Night's Watch. Oh, how events would have turned out differently if Ned would have listened to him.

And in a "soon-to-be-crossover star" we will add in this honorable mention at the end...

Miranda Richardson

Back in March, the news broke that Miranda Richardson aka Rita Skeeter would be making her way to Westeros. The actress has been cast in the prequel series for Game of Thrones. No word on what character she will be playing in the show and all we know is that the series will take place about 5,000 years in the past before the current action.

There are still other actors we haven't named on this list, but their roles in either film were smaller and it would be a lot harder to recognize those names. Can't wait to see if other big names show up on the show, not to mention all the great cameos that have been happening this season!
