It's National Nurses Week! So WalletHub decided to find out which states were the best for nurses to work in and Texas and New Mexico came out in the Top 5!

The website looked at 18 key metrics including:

  • Average Annual Salary for Nurses
  • Health-Care Facilities per Capita: Full Weight
  • Share of Population Living in a Primary-Care HPSA:
  • Projected Share of Elderly Population in 2030
  • Educational Opportunities Based on Quality of Nursing Schools
  • Share of Licensed Nursing Professionals Not Working in Nursing Field
  • Nursing-Job Openings per Capita
  • Projected Competition in 2024
  • Mandatory Overtime Restrictions
  • Ratio of Nurses to Hospital Beds
  • Presence of Nursing Licensure Compact Law
  • Share of Best Nursing Homes
  • Quality of Public Hospital System
  • Friendliness Toward Working Moms
  • Average Number of Work Hours
  • Average Commute Time

New Mexico came out pretty hight on the list at #2 of the best states for nurses to work in.

Texas came in on #4 on that list as one of the best states for nurses to work in. Here is how Texas did numerically on the list:
