San Diego deathcore merchants Carnifex have just announced the details behind World War X, their seventh full length due Aug. 2 on Nuclear Blast. The first single, "No Light Shall Save Us," features a guest contribution from Arch Enemy singer Alissa White-Gluz.

The track is a hellish dose of Carnifex's signature crunching, heaving heaviness, accented with melodic flourishes that fuel the doom-laden atmosphere.

"Collaborating with Alissa on ‘No Light Shall Save Us‘ was a joy from the start," says Carnifex frontman Scott Ian Lewis. "Alissa was able to elevate the song with a dynamic that’s completely new for Carnifex. There is a melody and depth on 'No Light Shall Save Us' unlike any previous Carnifex song. It’s the perfect start to your journey through World War X."

White-Gluz adds, "With 'No Light Shall Save Us' I think Carnifex and I have been able to create a really special piece. The video shoot was an incredible experience and from the second I read the lyrics and heard Scott’s vision for the song I knew I could really build on it and express myself. I’m excited to share this with the world!"

Dark are the souls buried in the depths
Drawn forth to serve then die again
Palms carved on the alters of death
With one command, to hell descend

Blessed are the damned
as they're screaming for answers
Humanities mass grave, buried in disasters
This is the echo of their last words

This hell is home
Scorched earth seduction
Now you die alone
This hell is home
From above and below
Death enthroned

We stole the stars from the sky
From the hand of god to death divine
We stole the light from their eyes
Condemning the world to eternal night

Above the earth we command the flames
In the dead of night on ravens wings
Only to return when the earth is dust
No light shall save us

Dark are the souls buried in the depths
Drawn forth to serve then die again
Palms carved on the alters of death
With one command, to hell descend

Swept away in apocalyptic rapture
Death of the earth and everything after
Until the oceans turn black
We might find the light
but we'll never find our way back

We stole the stars from the sky
From the hand of god to death divine
We stole the light from their eyes
Condemning the world to eternal night

Eternal night
Above the earth we command the flames
In the dead of night on ravens wings
Only to return when the earth is dust
No light shall save us

World War X was recorded produced and mixed by Jason Suecof at AudioHammer Studios while Anaal Nathrakh's Mick Kenney tracked the vocals at his The Barracks Studio. Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound mastered the record and Blake Armstrong created the cover art.
