Blink-182 Unveil Poppy New Single ‘Blame It on My Youth’

Blink-182 have just dropped their new single “Blame It on My Youth.” The track is Blink’s first since releasing "6/8," a bonus track on the deluxe edition of their 2016 album California.

The catchy new cut doesn’t sound like anything Blink have released in the past. “Blame It on My Youth” is a modern radio hit with flashy production and filters galore. Fans of Blink’s work in the ‘90s or early 2000s may choose to pass on the new song, but it’s got the trappings of an unavoidable super hit.

Singer/bassist Mark Hoppus was the first to share the new song via Twitter, sending out a link to iTunes and Spotify. So far, opinion has been mixed, with classic Blink fans mourning the song’s 2010s pop sensibilities while others have praised the vocal work and Travis Barker’s drums.

According to Barker, Blink-182’s new album will arrive sometime before Warped Tour and will share similarities to the band’s 2003 untitled record. Blink recorded over 40 songs for the album, with many of them inspired by our current social climate. "I think that the world is quite a strange place right now in general. People are really wound up, everyone is on edge and that seeps into everything that you do,” Hoppus told NME.
