Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce + Former Vocalist Danny Worsnop End Feud Over Drinks
The exit of Danny Worsnop from Asking Alexandria in early 2015 came as a surprise to many, and his exit was not exactly an amicable one. In the time since, Worsnop and guitarist Ben Bruce have grabbed some headlines with comments about the split, but it appears that the war of words is over and the longtime friends have mended fences.
Worsnop posted in a tweet, "Drank almost a handle of Jameson and partied old school style with Ben Bruce so there's that." But news of the onetime friends hanging out did result in some social media drama, with fans reaching out to Bruce over rumors that he and current Asking Alexandria vocalist Denis Stoff had "unfriended" each other on Twitter, something that the guitarist denied. The tweets from Worsnop and Bruce can be seen below.
Worsnop left the band in 2015 and put the focus on his other group We Are Harlot initially. Then, after that, he completed a solo album called The Prozac Sessions that was more country based. Bruce had stated that the rest of the band were not on the same page with Worsnop creatively and has been open about the group's latest album, The Black, being more in line with the music they wanted to do. He also admitted to writing spiteful lyrics about Worsnop for the new album before rethinking that approach, stating, "I was f–king pissed off, man. The guy was my best friend, and he just kind of turned his back on me and f–king bailed. And I was angry — I was really angry — and I was upset, so a lot of the lyrics were written towards Danny and a lot of them were quite spiteful and lot of them were quite upsetting."
While Worsnop initially gave a thumbs up to Asking Alexandria's first new song and new vocalist, he later ruffled a few feathers in explaining why he left the band. “My priority always lies with my art, and that has never changed and will never change,” said Worsnop, who added, “I ended up leaving [Asking Alexandria] because it lost the art to me. It lost its artistic integrity in my eyes. It was just selling out and that’s not what I do."
Bruce later responded while talking with our own Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez. “What’s really annoying about [Danny’s comment] is he’s an Englishman singing country music with an American accent," said Bruce (in video seen below). "Where’s your integrity? What are you talking about? We’ve done what we’ve always loved to do since day one. We didn’t change. He did. For the fact that he can sit there and say that, I think it’s bulls--t. It’s not true.”
But it looks like Worsnop and Bruce have worked through their differences and are now on friendly terms again. As stated, Worsnop is promoting The Prozac Sessions country-leaning album, while Asking Alexandria are promoting The Black.
