After the news of the horrific shooting massacre in Orlando, Florida Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick sent out a tweet that offended many social media users.

Patrick sent out a tweet with a quote from Galatians 6:7 around 7 a.m. on June 12:

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”

The delete quickly upset the social media world, so many people demanded Patrick apologize for his choice on the bible verse he shared.

Patrick ended up deleting the tweet and releasing a Facebook statement on his decision to originally post that quote, then his reasoning for taking it down:

Taking down his [sic] word would be like tearing a page from the Bible because we didn’t like what God was telling us. I took it down to stop the hateful comments and the misinformation being spread of God’s message to all of us- straight or gay.

He also mentioned hearing about the tragedy late due to being on an island. His representatives also mentioned that Patrick's Sunday bible quote posts are scheduled the night before, so he wasn't aware of what was going to be posted the next morning.

Ultimately, Patrick wants his followers to remember the real enemy is ISIS and America must stand together during this time.
