Really? Governor Abbott And Texas Gun Law Blasted by Social Media After School Shooting Tragedy
Tragedy struck as an 18-year-old student opened fire at Timberview High School in Arlington on Wednesday morning. The student was arrested and 4 people were hurt in the incident.
Following the shooting, many took to social media to call out Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the state's permitless carry gun law. The law allows persons 21 and older to carry handguns in public without a license.
Wow. Really? Do people really think Abbott and his donors are loving every bit of this violence? Sounds like some people need to stop and think before they hit that 'reply' button on their Twitter app.
Governor Abbott released a statement on Twitter extending thoughts and prayers to the victims of the shooting and their families.
Even with his statement of compassion, there were more on Twitter who felt the need to be critical of the governor.
It seems these Twitter Monday morning quarterbacks fail to realize that the alleged gunman was not lawfully in possession of the gun he used according to a statement made by the governor.
“The shooter, under Texas law, it is illegal for the shooter to either possess or to have purchased the gun that was used in this crime,” Abbott said, later adding: “Very importantly with regard to the school shooting that took place today, as well as with really any school shooting that I’m aware of, the gun that was possessed by the shooter was possessed illegally.”

This was a tragedy, but do you agree with some of those in the Twitter universe that said the Texas permitless carry gun law is to blame? Or do you think those opinions are unfounded?
