For today’s Monday Mashup we decided to use something with a Halloween theme. So we found the following Mashup that combines “Gangnam Style” by South Korean artist Psy and “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr.

I actually “gonged” this one at the one minute mark but, much to my surprise (and dismay), everyone else seemed to really like it. They all have their own gongs but no one chose to use it.

This mashup is by Faroff and here’s a link to their channel on Youtube.

I still have to write about 100 more words for this to count as an official “post” so I’ll tell a story about “Ghostbusters” that was relayed to me by Ray Parker, Jr. himself.

So, after “Ghostbusters” became a hit Ray Parker Jr. was sued by Huey Lewis. Lewis claimed that the beginning of the song was a little too similar to HIS song “I Want a New Drug”. Here’s a side by side comparison so you can hear for yourself.

The case was decided in favor of Huey Lewis and Ray Parker Jr. (maybe, technically, his record company) had to make a cash settlement. But…there was also a gag order. As Ray told me in an interview a few years ago, Huey Lewis talked about the settlement in an interview. And Ray ended up SUING HUEY LEWIS AND WINNING. So, Ray Parker Jr. ended up getting paid back by Huey Lewis.
