The New England Patriots are the villains of the NFL. I know this, and I'm a Patriots fan. We have a coach who is barely sociable with the media. A pretty boy quarterback with a super model wife. And most importantly, we win. A perfect combination to be the villains in any Disney sports movie.

One thing that certainly adds to the villain status is something that happened yesterday. Throughout most of the offseason it was looking like the team would be looking to replace both coordinator positions. Matt Patricia was heading to the Detroit Lions, whil Josh McDaniels had apparently zeroed in on the Colts' job.

It was even announced yesterday by the Colts that McDaniels would be the team's new head coach. But before the day was up, the Colts were looking for a new head coach. No one is quite sure exactly what happened, but McDaniels supposedly met with Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft and was swayed to stay. A lot of people are wondering if McDaniels was nervous about working for Colts' owner Jim Irsay. Or more likely, he wasn't sure Andrew Luck will ever be the same quarterback coming off the shoulder injury that kept him out all of last season.

Either way, McDaniels pulled a Belichick and resigned from a head coaching position right after it was announced he'd been hired. Villainous move? Yeah, I can see that. But at this point the legacy is cemented. The greatest dynasty the NFL has ever seen, let the peasants hate.

And just in case you aren't familiar with the story about Belichick...
