Lady Gaga Steers Clear of Politics, Alt-Right Savages Her Anyway

"Why can't celebrities just shut up and sing?" is a frequent thing conservatives say. I guess liberals may say it too but I'm not sure anybody can get too riled by what Scott Baio or Kevin Sorbo have to say.  But there was a lot of talk about Lady Gaga before the Super Bowl and speculation from the right (read: your older relative) that she might use her performance to trash-talk Donald Trump.

Well, she didn't. She put on what many people are calling the best Super Bowl halftime show of all time. She actually sang (as far as I could tell) which really puts previous lip-syncing performers, who claimed they weren't allowed to perform live, in an awkward spot (looking at you, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Her performance was all about God, country and actual talent. But you wouldn't know that from the comments made on America's favorite skin-head website Breitbart.

Yeah! How dare she sing about respecting people of various ethnicities and nationalities??!!

But come on, Alt-Right. Can’t you at least give her some grudging respect? She didn’t go all political which is what you’re always saying is what you want.

I guess that would be a big, fat “no.”

And, of course, no Breitbart comment section would be complete without soul-crushing levels of hatred toward women:
