Labor day is right around the corner. While many are excited at the prospect of a three day weekend (myself included) others are excited for the unofficial start to fall. Football season is about to officially start. Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and other local coffee stores have already debuted their fall menus. Pop-up Halloween stores are opening around town. But don't let any of that fool you, though, because although it looks like fall is getting ready to launch, I regret to inform you that IT. IS. STILL. SUMMER!

The official first day of fall is on Monday, September 23rd. We're still days away from that, and while in other parts of the country it may seem that fall is already starting, here in West Texas, the sun has definitely not slowed down. We were under a heat advisory the other day with a high of 105 degrees (when my mom decided to make caldo) and the temperature doesn't seem to go down.

For someone like me, who doesn't really like summer to begin with, it's always autumn in my heart. Because I live in West Texas, and in a place called the "Sun City," I have to make adjustments to that. Pumpkin spice lattes are out, but because it's hotter than the devil's armpit outside, I'll take it iced. I love sweaters and scarves but I reserve those for the office, because no matter what season it is outside, it's always winter in this office. Even if the temperature drops down two degrees, I like to light a nice fall scented candle. But even so, there's always something there to remind me that autumn is most definitely NOT here yet and Summer isn't going away anytime soon...
