Green Day Reveal Stripped-Back Sound in ‘Ordinary World’ Lyric Video
It's a busy fall for Billie Joe Armstrong, and the latest video from Green Day actually ties his two big projects together. The band has just released a lyric video for the song "Ordinary World," which is also the title of the new Armstrong-starring film that arrives this month.
While Green Day typically rock out, "Ordinary World" is a more stripped back song just featuring Armstrong and an acoustic guitar. The intimacy of the song gives it a more personal feel, especially as Armstrong dreams of grandiose plans while eventually coming to the lyrical conclusion, "Baby I don't have much / But what we have is more than enough / Ordinary World."
The track is the final song on Green Day's Revolution Radio album, and is also one of the songs Armstrong has contributed to the Ordinary World film. The movie stars Armstrong as Perry, a former punk rocker whose former life is barely visible now as he's transformed into a family man. Perry attempts to regain some of his rebellious nature by throwing a 40th birthday bash at a hotel and reconnecting with his past. The film also stars Selma Blair, Judy Greer and Fred Armisen. Check out a trailer for the movie below.
As for Green Day, the band is currently wrapping up a tour stateside in support of Revolution Radio and already have started booking dates for 2017. See their current itinerary here.
