‘Game of Thrones’ Author on Trump: ‘Winter Is Coming, I Told You So’
Had Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin not inflicted enough misery on our lives, thoughts on a Donald Trump presidency certainly seal the deal. The Song of Ice and Fire creator laments the election from a new blog post, reminding us all “Winter is coming. I told you so.”
Martin threw both ice and fire from his usual LiveJournal haunt, in a post dubbed … well, let’s just say there’s alliteration, and grabbing. Either way, the Game of Thrones author had plenty to write of his disappointment, which doesn’t spell the happiest of endings for his final novels:
There are really no words for how I feel this morning.
America has spoken. I really thought we were better than this. Guess not.
Trump was the least qualified candidate ever nominated by a major party for the presidency. Come January, he will become the worst president in American history, and a dangerously unstable player on the world stage.
And the decimated Democrats, a minority in both House and Senate, do not have the power to hinder him.
Over the next four years, our problems are going to get much, much worse.
Winter is coming. I told you so.
Sheesh, George. Couldn’t have thrown us a little dream of spring at the end, figurative or literal? Bundle up, everybody.
