"Where do I book my trip?!" "How do I sign up?!" These are things I actually said out loud when the Star Wars hotel Disney was creating was first announced. Here is what we know so far:

  • Name: Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser
  • Location: Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL
  • Opening: Sometime in 2021
  • Cost: Cabins for 5 start at $3,300

Here is what to expect in regards to the experience. A full two-day immersive cruise-like experience. It's being said that this hotel will have more in common with Westworld than a standard hotel, and guests should expect a 24/7 experience.

The hotel will be right across the street from Galaxy's Edge in Disney World's Hollywood Studios. I could try to tell you about the experience, but Polygon did a damn good job of it. You can check out their full article with concept art by CLICKING HERE, but here is how they describe the experience:

Guests will arrive at a simulated spaceport, then “jump to lightspeed” aboard the starcruiser Halcyon. Instead of windows, says the blog post, guests will have a simulated view of space through “viewports” as they approach a “massive ship that is much too large to land on any planet.” Artists renderings show plenty of costumed characters, as well as a bipedal droid.

During their stay, guests will be ferried to and from the planet Batuu’s Black Spire Outpost — thematically, the setting for Disney’s Star Wars land — on custom-built vehicles. The mock-up of these “transports” is reminiscent of the interior of the iconic Tantive IV, whose slender, hammerhead-shape is seen in the opening moments of the original Star Wars film in 1977. The role-playing experience will carry over into the park as well. The post says that the goal is to keep guests “fully in-story” all during their stay.

Reservations are not yet available, but you can sign up for an email list.

Buzz has let it be known he doesn't understand adults who go to Disney theme parks who don't have kids and that he would never go. I think this might actually change his thoughts on Disney theme parks.
