Cowboys Looking for New Head Coach with NFL Experience

It was the least surprising, yet somehow still surprising news from the weekend. Jason Garrett is out as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. There's too much talent on this team to go 8 and 8, and miss the playoffs.

So, now the search for a new head coach is on, and apparently the Cowboys have already started the interview process. ESPN's Chris Mortensen said:

"The Dallas Cowboys are intensely focused on head-coach candidates who have extensive NFL experience in the role and a track record of success, which is why former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy and former Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis were interviewed this weekend, according to a source familiar with the search for Jason Garrett's replacement."

Some people have thrown names like Urban Meyer and Lincoln Riley in the mix, but if the Cowboys are dead set on getting someone with NFL experience, those guys are out.

I'm gonna throw one name out there. Jim Harbaugh. He just isn't able to get Michigan to the level that he was brought in for. He hasn't beaten Ohio State, and is 1 and 4 in bowl games.

In the four years he was in the NFL with the Niners, he compiled a record of 44 - 19 - 1, taking the team to three straight NFC Championship games, and a Super Bowl appearance. Of course, Harbaugh is notorious for not being difficult to deal with, which could be a big problem working for an owner like Jerry Jones.
