It's one of the most coveted secrets ever. The elusive 11 herbs and spices that make up KFC's original recipe. It was 126 years ago that Harland David Sanders was born. Of course we know him better as Colonel Sanders. Played in KFC's marketing campaign by Norm Macdonald, Jim Gaffigan, George Hamilton, and now most recently Rob Riggle.

Harland Sanders went from running a Shell service station, to acquiring a motel, and by July 1940 he had perfected his "secret recipe" involving 11 herbs and spices. Since then, that recipe has been kept secret.

But recently it appears the secret may have been let out. You can read the full story of how it may or may not have been revealed here. The recipe is the following 11 herbs and spices:

  1. 2/3 TS Salt
  2. 1/2 TS Thyme
  3. 1/2 TS Basil
  4. 1/3 TS Oregano (it says origino)
  5. 1 TS Celery Salt
  6. 1 TS Black Pepper
  7. 1 TS Dried Mustard
  8. 4 TS Paprika
  9. 2 TS Garlic Salt
  10. 1 TS Ground Ginger
  11. 3 TS White Pepper

So there you go. KFC's original recipe. And some people claim to have tried it and say that is tastes just like KFC. Give it a shot, and let us know what you think.
