With back-to-school season here, a South Texas television station asked viewers to give their opinion on how they feel about sending children back to class.

Suffice it to say, many respondents were not happy with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and his executive order prohibiting counties, cities and schools from enforcing mask mandates.

This anonymous responder said the governor is 'leading little lives directly to...death'.

As an educator and a mom, I am appalled by the lack of foresight and blatant disregard for young lives. They have no other way to be protected without mask mandates! The governor and his supporters are senselessly leading little lives directly to sickness and, for some, death. What a disgrace!

This person voiced concern her unvaccinated child should not be around other mask less children.

I’m very concerned about my 6-year-old returning to school. She cannot be vaccinated since she’s under 12 years old and I’m concerned about other kids not wearing masks. Honestly, I’m thinking about home school and very disappointed that virtual learning wasn’t offered for at least them.

I must ask if these parents are so concerned about the lives of children and are advocating for masks now, why didn't they advocate for masks during past flu seasons or when strep throat was spreading amongst children?

There are many more unflattering responses in the article regarding the governor with one person saying he is putting politics over the lives of children and claiming he is not doing a good job protecting Texans.

So, this is what people in South Texas think. We want to know what you think here in San Angelo. With children set to return to class soon, do you think the governor is doing a poor job and 'leading little lives to death'? Give us your thoughts and opinion on Facebook or on our station app.
