The Hives Stir Things Up With New Song ‘Good Samaritan’
They’re back! The Hives announced their presence earlier this spring with the single “I’m Alive,” and now we’ve got a follow-up track by the Swedish garage rockers that reclaims their high energy aesthetic.
The track is called “Good Samaritan,” and the band has been working it into shows of late with solid response. Speaking with Rolling Stone about the track, they state, “This a song about helping people help themselves by not helping them? Are they sarcastic or do they hate people now? Is this punk? You never know with these Hives and it’s been a while since I saw them so let’s all go see them again and see what they are on about?”
The band added, “[It’s] musically faster than usual but a surprising dive into the chorus that feels like going into hyper-space. Now it’s not surprising anymore. Oh well.”
Though details of a new album have yet to surface, it’s been revealed that the band have been working with producer Dave Sardy on their first album since 2012’s Lex Hives.
If you like “Good Samaritan,” it’s available via the platform of your choosing here. Plus, there will also be a limited-edition double A-sided 7” released by Third Man Records that can be purchased here. Look for the Hives bringing their raucous live show to concert stages at these locations.
