Texas Parents Throw Hot Cooking Oil On Teen for Refusing Arranged Marriage
It boggles my mind some of the people how have kids. I've even gone on record that I am pro-sterilization. Some people just shouldn't breed. And you might be wondering, "Where do you draw that line?" Well, I'm not 100% sure about the specific line. But a couple in San Antonio certainly falls on the same side of the line that the California parents that kept their 13 kids locked up are on.
Abdulah Fahmi Kala Al Hishmawi, 34, and mother, Hamdiyah Sabah Al Hishmawi, 33 were arrested this past Friday after being charged with continuous family violence and they may face other charges as well.
The couple had arranged a marriage for their 16 year old daughter in exchange for $20,000.
When the teen expressed that she did not want to be in the marriage, she reportedly had hot cooking oil thrown on her body, was beaten with broomsticks and was choked at least once "almost to the point of unconsciousness," Sheriff Javier Salazar said said.
This is clearly bad enough, but the sad part is, five other children, ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old, were taken into protective custody. The 16 year old had run away and was missing for about month, but was thankfully in a safe place when she was found.
