According to Wallethub, Texas is the #9 Most Stressed State.  No doubt, The Cowboys and the Astros, and all our other pro and college teams had their stressful moments this past year. Not to mention all those annoying Californians who keep moving here.  Then, there's that business of being rolled by a tornado in your brand new Red Chevy Truck.

On top of that, because of our dry climate here in West Texas, many Texans are also stressed by spouses who frankly snore. Some chronic snorers have been metered at higher decibels  than a 747.  Many Texans also have neighbors with watch dogs that bark at their own shadows and howl at the moon. Every Texan also has at least one neighbor who insists on warming up his loud pickup truck at the crack of dawn.

All of this adds up to Texas Stress.

Maybe, Wallethub is right.  Now that you mention it, we Texans are stressed out more. Perhaps, we really do fret more than people in 41 other states. But here's some good news. If you have an iPhone, then there's a hack that can help.

Your iPhone can generate soothing sounds to drown out the stress in your life.  Choose from ocean, rain, stream and many others.

To unlock the feature on newer iPhones, open the Settings App, then go to Accessibility, scroll down to Audio/Visual, then tap background sounds. Just pick your favorite relaxing sound and prepare to feel the stress slipping away in a swirl of relaxing audio.

Just like the Cowboys, Astros, and every other sports franchise, Texas will get another season to turn things around. Next year we will get another shot at the Wallethub stressed states list. If we all spread this iPhone hack from El Paso to Beaumont, from Amarillo to Brownsville and right here in San Angelo, then, next year, we might just beat Hawaii as the least stressed state, or at least Utah. Heck I'll even settle for being less stressed than Oklahoma. Baby steps.
