An Edinburg High School football player had to be escorted out of the stadium by police after attacking the games referee.

Senior defensive lineman Emmanuel Duron charged onto the field after being ejected running over the official.

Immediately players and coaches approached the two while Duron backed off.

Duron was the District 31-6A Defensive Player of the Year last season.

The official was removed from the field and checked for a concussion by medical staff.

Duron was charged with Class A assault on Friday morning following an arraignment at the Edinburg Municipal Court.

And according to CBS sports, Edinburgh is no longer eligible for postseason play.
