The wife of a terminally ill Army veteran is looking to brighten her husband's last days by having people call or text him just to talk.

A terminally-ill Army veteran in New Braunfels, Texas is feeling the love after his request for strangers to call him has gone viral. Lee Hernandez is an 18-year Army veteran who is currently in hospice care for an unknown medical condition that is caused his sight and cognitive abilities to deteriorate over the last five years. Hernandez has undergone three brain surgeries and suffers from strokes that have caused his body to deteriorate. Doctors are stumped as to why Hernandez is suffering form this debilitating condition and are trying to make him comfortable now.

One day he told his wife to hold his phone for him to answer "in case someone calls." After having his phone for two hours with no calls, he told his wife "I guess no one wants to talk to me." His wife said the statement broke her heart.

A woman posted about Lee Hernandez's situation on a Arizona Veterans Forumn on Facebook where it quickly went viral. Since then, the couple have been flooded with calls and texts of inspirations, sympathy and hope.
