Geoff Tate was the voice of Queensryche for years, so it stands to reason that after he was fired from the band and decided to strike out on his own, he was counting on the continued support of his longtime fans. Unfortunately for Tate, it hasn't exactly worked out that way.

Leading up to the release on Tuesday (April 23) of ‘Frequency Unknown’ from Geoff Tate’s Queensryche, fans were quite critical of the quality of the sound they heard through previews made available on digital retailers. Tate and company have come to the table with a solution though, remixing the disc and offering free replacements to any fans that purchased the release and are unhappy.

The members of Queensryche that split with vocalist Geoff Tate last summer have signed a new record deal with Century Media Records, and announced their first album with vocalist Todd La Torreis on the way. Century Media is a company whose A&R representative officially supported Tate's injunction to prevent anyone from using the name Queensryche until legal issues were settled. That injunction

Texas-based blues rockers ZZ Top and the progressive metal group Queensryche are among the acts confirmed to appear at this year's Sturgis Rally concert at the Buffalo Chip Music Festival. Billed as the "largest music festival in motorcycling," the annual event features a mix of classic rock and country acts. This year's rally takes place Aug. 2-11 in South Dakota.

Geoff Tate has yet to play his first gig with his newly created Queensryche lineup and already he's down one member. Tate revealed earlier this year that former Megadeth and King Diamond guitarist Glen Drover would be part of his version of the band, but Drover has just announced his exit.
