Steven Tyler Returns to the Stage Following Health Scare
Steven Tyler returned to the stage Saturday night (Oct. 21), mere weeks after a health scare led to the cancellation of a series of Aerosmith shows. The singer appeared to be in fine form, performing a handful of classics from the Boston rocker's catalog including "Dream On," "Cryin'," "Jaded" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."
The cause for Tyler's return was a good one; it was the David Foster Foundation‘s 30th annual concert, which provides financial support for non-medical expenses to Canadian families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants. The benefit concert took place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia and appears to have raised over $10 million. Foster is a 16-time Grammy Award-winning producer and musician, who has worked with the likes of Barbra Streisand, Céline Dion and Whitney Houston.
Tyler was joined onstage by country music superstar Reba McEntire and pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen for the show closer of "Walk This Way." Aerosmith has no future dates on their docket following the scrapped gigs, which Tyler denied speculation was the result of a seizure.
"It breaks my heart to have left this tour early..The band has never played better," he posted in a lengthy missive on his official Facebook page. "Just watch the 1,000 people at Rock in Rio ... I give you all an A+ for creative speculations but I certainly did not have a heart attack or a seizure (unless Joe Perry is taking a rippin' lead) ... Sorry to have cut the tour short but I had to have a procedure that only my doc in the States could perform ... We've been to Tel Aviv ... to Russia ... to Rio ... and all the in between ... I guess it's true what they say ... that live's a pisser when eu're a peein'"
