Staind + Three Days Grace Members Recording Second Saint Asonia Album
It's been a while since you've heard the name Saint Asonia, but prepare to get reacquainted with them in 2019. The group, featuring members of Staind and Three Days Grace, have inked a new record deal for their second album.
Adam Gontier (vocals, ex-Three Days Grace), Mike Mushok (guitar, Staind), Cale Gontier (bass, Art of Dying) and Sal Giancarelli (drums, Staind) are currently in the studio in upstate New York working on the successor to Saint Asonia's self-titled debut. They're working with producer Brian Sperber (Staind, Alter Bridge) and will release the record sometime this year.
It was also be the first album to feature Cale Gontier and Giancarelli, who replaced Corey Lowery and Rich Beddoe respectively.
"We're very excited to share our new material with the world," said Adam Gontier, who went on to speak about the group's new record deal. "Plus, we're super happy to have signed with Spinefarm Records! It's such a fantastic group of people there, and they've got a solid roster of incredible bands and musicians. Additionally, Spinefarm's presence overseas is amazing, and for us, that's a really big deal."
"This new album is a giant step forward for us in many ways," the singer continued. "Of course, there's those elements that have always been present in the music, like the heavy riffs and the vulnerability within the lyrics. But there's also a completely new element that takes things to a different level. Our goal is to raise the bar on every record, so we're incorporating a lot of different sounds and instruments on this one. For me, this is the best stuff I've written since 2005. I guess you'll have to hear it to judge for yourself!"
Saint Asonia will also be hitting the road in support of the record, but no dates have been revealed as of yet.
In 2015, Loudwire readers voted for Saint Asonia as the Best New Artist of the year.
