At last night’s (Jan. 16) 'I Am the Highway' Chris Cornell tribute show, Soundgarden reunited for the first time since their frontman’s death in 2017. The legendary grunge band jammed fan favorites with artists such as Peter Frampton, MelvinsBuzz Osborne, MC5’s Wayne Kramer and The Pretty RecklessTaylor Momsen.

Momsen was the first to perform with Soundgarden, knocking out “Rusty Cage” with Cornell’s signature grit. Momsen would return later in the set to sing “Drawing Flies” followed by “Loud Love” with Wayne Kramer.

Zen Guerrilla’s Marcus Durant, who was selected to front MC5 for the band’s 50th anniversary tour, sang “Flower” and “Outshined” with Soundgarden, with Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard joining in for the latter song.

Melvins' Buzz Osborne manned the guitar for “I Awake” and “The Day I Tried to Live,” while Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins took center stage to sing both tracks. Hawkins’ voice was especially powerful, as fans who’ve seen the Foos live already know.

“Black Hole Sun” finished off Soundgarden’s eight-song set. Folk rocker Brandi Carlile sang while Peter Frampton played guitar on the classic track.
