The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts and Be Theatre are teaming up for Family Day "The Show Must Go On" at SAMFA Saturday, January 14th from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Be Theatre will have a special performance inside the museum at noon featuring Alyssa Ramirez, who stars in the title role of Junie B. Jones in Be Theatre’s Literature Alive Project.
There will be free art activities in the museum’s Education Studio include making an impressionism landscape based on Jose Arpa, creating a repousse theatre mask, sculpting a negative space sculpture, and more.
Come see the current exhibit John Raimondi: Drawing to Sculpture and take a glimpse inside the mind of a master sculptor as he worked out his ideas on paper and in small models before executing large, public monuments. Also on exhibit is Jose Arpa: Spanish Painter in Texas. Arpa was a major Texas artist and teacher who brought Impressionism to the Lone Star State. Entry to all galleries are FREE during Family Day.
Enjoy a healthy snack with the Provisional Class of the Junior League of San Angelo. JLSA will be onsite to creatively educate children about healthy eating through their Kids in the Kitchen program which was established by the Association of Junior Leagues International to help combat childhood obesity. JLSA volunteers will be helping attendees assemble a themed snack that can easily be made at home with the recipe and activity sheet that will also be distributed at the event.
