It's been over three decades since New Jersey's Overkill released their Feel the Fire debut and they know as well as any fan that their brand of street-born thrash is still as potent as ever. With their 17th studio album, The Grinding Wheel, expected to arrive in February of next year, the Jersey boys have offered a sample from the thrash platter with the chest-beating "Our Finest Hour."

Clocking in at just under six minutes, Overkill run through wild tempo changes, delivering a riffstorm that begs for windmill headbanging. The push and pull of the opening moments are guided by fevered drumming before settling in as the verse arrives. Bobby Blitz, who will be 58 next year, proves yet again that he's one of the most enduring frontmen around, with no signs of wear on his inimitable voice.

The arrangement on "Our Finest Hour" is unforgiving, especially over the circle-pit inducing mid-section, which quickly degrades into a stomping mid-tempo groove, invoking more images of flying fists and elbows.

The song will see a physical release on Nov. 4 as a 7" single through Nuclear Blast with options of green, black, clear or splatter vinyl. Pre-order your copy here.

Speaking with Full Metal Jackie about recording on the road for the forthcoming album, Blitz said, "It was killer because I like to tour while we’re writing because it’s a great transference. That live energy on the stage that transfers over to tape. Not the tape, but digital information. You can’t feign that. It’s like coming off, me personally, in San Antonio or San Francisco and being able to hit the back of the bus and put down some demo vocals. The last memory or experience I had with the band, was all about 110 percent. That kind of feeling, so it transfers easily."

Overkill will hit the road with death metal icons Nile next year, along with a handful of dates where Amorphis and Swallow the Sun will join the bill. Check out a full list of tour stops below.
