Since I've moved to West Texas, I've been pretty fortunate not getting stuck in some of the horrific traffic that we have due to road closures. Sure, the end product should be great, but right now it sucks.

Well, it was easy to avoid these closures when I was by myself because I could choose to not go anywhere. But having a family, you just sit in your house and play video games. Things need to be done. So the first thing I do whenever I'm going anywhere, even if I know where the place it, I open up Waze to get me there because it'll find me the best route. Or so I thought.

A recent study done by a senior manager at Adobe looked at the different options when it came to navigation. They looked at Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, and yes, even MapQuest. Two things were being tested for each app, the overall time to get to a destination and how accurate they were.

While each app has their own certain benefits, there was a clear winner, and it was GOOGLE MAPS. Here are some notes about the test and results:

  • Waze promises the fastest time, but 11% of the time, the drive actually took longer than it said it would.
  • Apple Maps almost never underestimated the time, while Google Maps missed about 2% of the time.
  • The overall drive time was shorter when it came to Google Maps, so it was the best at getting you to your location the quickest.

So, there you go, if you trust this study, you should probably go with Google Maps. Me? I'll probably give it a shot and see how it goes.
