Watch: Metallica’s Kirk Hammett Slips on Wah-Wah Pedal, Keeps His Cool
Metallica's Kirk Hammett seemed in good humor as the guitarist recovered from an onstage fall Wednesday (May 8) during the band's "WorldWired Tour" stop in Milan, Italy. Executing a solo during "Moth Into Flame" while it rained, Hammett slipped and fell on his wet wah-wah pedal. But he never stopped playing.
The musician cracked a smile as he tumbled, axe in hand, as seen the clip shared by the shredder. "Ummm — I slipped on my wet wah pedal," Hammett explained. "It rained so much I felt like I was playing guitar in the shower."

Perhaps the Hardwired... To Self-Destruct tune has some strange power to instigate minor accidents. After all, "Moth Into Flame" is the same song the band performed alongside pop star Lady Gaga at the 2018 Grammys when Hammett's bandmate James Hetfield experienced some technical difficulties with his microphone.
Viewable thanks to a camera placed near the guitarist's pedal board, the video of Hammett's fall follows a week of drawings for Metallica MLB memorabilia collected from the seventh annual "Metallica Night" April 26 at San Francisco's Oracle Park, home of Major League Baseball's Giants.
Metallica take their current European tour into August before hooking up with Slipknot for some shows Down Under. Below, see all the upcoming tour dates.
