Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine Toys With Interrupting Concertgoer: ‘Talk or Shut the F–k Up’
Everyone has been to a show where there's that one person in the crowd who feels they have the exclusive right to shout whatever they went at a band, interrupting a moment for a fleeting bit of one-on-one interaction. Such was the case at Megadeth's Oct. 7 concert at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill. last week.
As seen in the clip above, a concertgoer shouts something unintelligible at frontman Dave Mustaine, who was in the midst of addressing the crowd between songs. Unsure at first of what the attendee said, Mustaine asked, "What? What'd you say?" After a small delay, the frontman continued, "Okay, everybody, I'm gonna wait 'till this a--hole is done talking."
"No, go ahead," he continued after another pause, adding, "Whatever you've got to say is more important than what I've got to say. Go ahead. No, don't act like a kiss-ass now. Talk or shut the f--k up." With a round of cheers and applause, Mustaine quipped, "What a turd. Okay, so before I was so rudely interrupted by this pile of s--t..." and returned to his initial banter.
Setting someone in the crowd straight is not an uncommon occurrence at metal shows lately. Over the summer, Slipknot's Corey Taylor slapped a cell phone out of an audience member's hands because they were texting at the rail of the barricade during the band's performance. Taylor also ejected someone from a gig for showing "disrespect," flipping off the singer as well as hurling insults his way.
Megadeth are currently on tour with Amon Amarth, Suicidal Tendencies, Metal Church and Butcher Babies. The tour will run through Oct. 16 and a list of remaining stops can be found at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
