Lil Wayne Cuts Concert Short, Threatens to Leave Blink-182 Tour
Update: Lil Wayne tweeted that he won't be leaving the tour
When it was announced, the pairing of pop-punk kings Blink-182 and rapper Lil Wayne seemed like an odd mix, but served to expand both artists’ audiences. However, things may not be going as hoped for Lil Wayne, who cut his set short in Bristow, Virginia and hinted at a possible exit from the trek.
In widely circulating fan-shot video from the performance, the rapper stops mid-song to tell the audience, “Please forgive me, but I am so not used to performing to a crowd and there’s not too many, you know, like still, that’s not my swag. I’m not sure how long I’m going to be able to do this tour, but make some noise for blink-182 for including me anyway.” He continued, “This might be my last night though, let’s go.”
Blink and Lil Wayne both did their part to sell the unlikely combination, even going so far as to record a mash-up of “What’s My Age Again?” and “A Milli.” Watch that below.
The tour started in late June and the next show isn’t until Saturday (July 13) in Bangor, Maine. No official word has been announced concerning Lil’ Wayne’s potential exit from the run and it’s possible this could just be marked up to a bad night.
Blink-182 have been revisiting their monster 1999 album Enema of the State during the run. Neck Deep have been joining the pair as the opening act on the bill, and at press time everything with the lineup remains unchanged. See the dates for the run and get ticketing info here.
