In case you were confused about the tone of the DC movie universe, this new Justice League logo should make things perfectly clear: This isn’t your kid’s bright and shiny Marvel Cinematic Universe. Oh, no. This is a heavy metal comic book world where superheroes straight-up SHRED. Can you hear that? It’s the sound of a guitar wailing in the distance, heralding the arrival of heroes in need of a stiff drink and a bar fight.

Okay, that one was specifically for Jason Momoa’s tatted-up, eyeliner-wearing, dreadlock-swinging, whiskey-guzzling Aquaman, who made quite an impression in the first Justice League footage from Comic-Con. That guy looks like he could definitely get down with this new logo for Zack Snyder’s superhero ensemble. Ezra Miller’s The Flash, on the other hand, seems like he might have been left out of this particular design process (maybe because he was too busy watching Rick and Morty).

Not only is the new logo more detailed than the previous black-and-white iteration, but it’s closer in style to the logo for Suicide Squad, which seems to indicate that WB is really doubling down on their darker aesthetic and tone — at least for this film. In recent interviews, Ezra Miller and James Wan have assured fans that their films, The Flash and Aquaman, will be much more fun.

Justice League also features Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
