The Ice Bucket Challenge Is Back In Texas
If you thought you escaped the icy wrath of 2014’s most chaotic social media trend, think again. The Ice Bucket Challenge has returned, and it’s dragging your entire friend group back into the cold. Yes, even your aunt who still doesn't know how to post a story and that one co-worker who swore off TikTok after watching exactly three videos.
The original version turned every backyard in America into a wet stage for unexpected internet stardom. People who had never once filmed a selfie video were suddenly turning into directors of slow-mo ice dumps with heartfelt monologues. All for a great cause: raising awareness for ALS. The campaign raised over $100 million and made buckets of ice water a legitimate tool for philanthropy.
But now, the challenge is back with a twist and a brand new mission.

From Chilly Spines to Clear Minds
The 2025 revival wasn’t cooked up in a marketing boardroom. It was sparked by college students. Specifically, the MIND Club at the University of South Carolina, where students decided it was time to bring back the viral juggernaut with a fresh purpose. Instead of ALS, this year’s focus is on mental health and supporting students who are struggling.
The new campaign is called #SpeakYourMIND, and it’s already blowing up thanks to its mix of familiar antics and a powerful message. The goal is to raise awareness, fight stigma, and fund programs that support youth mental health through the nonprofit Active Minds. What started with a modest $500 goal has exploded past $295,000 and counting.

How to Play the 2025 Game Without Getting Ice Rage
If you’ve already been nominated (condolences), here’s the rundown:
Dump ice water on yourself. Yes, still cold.
Film it and post using the hashtags #SpeakYourMIND and #uscmind
Nominate 2 to 5 people who now have 24 hours to do the same. Choose wisely. Revenge is real.
Donate to Active Minds through the official fundraising page
Actually follow @uscmind and @active_minds to get educated and not just cold
And if you’re hoping celebrities won’t hop on this trend again, bad news. It’s already happened. Jenna Bush Hager’s done it. So has Matt Bomer. Blake Shelton’s probably packing his ice right now.

Get Ready to Be Cold, Wet, and Emotionally Woke
Whether you’re someone who loved the original challenge or someone who pretended your phone died every time a nomination came your way, the Ice Bucket Challenge is once again on your feed. Only this time, it’s asking for more than a shriek and a soggy T-shirt. It’s asking for a conversation.
So brace yourself. The buckets are back. And no one is safe.
