Hold the spice jars: Joe Rogan is apparently switching sides. Sort of.

Last week, the always unpredictable podcast host invited Texas Democratic Representative James Talarico onto The Joe Rogan Experience, showering him with praise and even saying he should run for president because he’s “a good person,” according to The Daily Beast. And yes, Rogan is touting policies that would make the last candidate he publicly supported, Donald Trump, utterly cringe.

Here’s the part that has Rogan’s Trump-leaning fans fuming. Rogan, who endorsed Trump in November 2024, is now cozying up to a Democrat with progressive views, including Talarico’s assertion that there are “six biological sexes.” That’s a far cry from MAGA orthodoxy. To some, it feels like a hard flip flop. To others, it’s just Rogan being Rogan, curious, unpredictable and sometimes frustratingly open-minded.

MAGA Fans Aren’t Happy

Some of Rogan’s most fervent supporters aren’t pleased. After all, this is the same guy who’s been called the voice of the manosphere, who interviewed Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Ron DeSantis. Now he’s praising a progressive Christian Democrat who opposes posting the Ten Commandments in schools. Cue the memes and angry comment sections.

Talarico’s visit wasn’t a political infomercial. It was a long-form discussion about faith, policy and the dysfunction of political extremes. Rogan has repeatedly said politics has become a religion for many Americans, with voters idolizing politicians. Maybe that’s why he’s drawn to someone who mixes devout faith, talk of universal basic income, and yes, biology lessons about sex as a spectrum, as highlighted in Time Magazine.

The Bottom Line

Is Rogan a turncoat, a chameleon or just the curious contrarian he’s always been? Maybe all three. But by urging a Democrat to run for president, he’s definitely irritating MAGA fans who thought they had him figured out. Rogan’s only consistent stance seems to be this: he refuses to be boxed in, even if it ticks off half his audience.
