Whataburger Finally Responds To Texas Wait Time Complaints
Texans have been complaining about Whataburger wait times for years! Being stuck in a Whataburger drive-thru for 30 minutes is basically a Texas rite of passage at this point. I once heard it be described as “Whataburger isn’t fast food, it’s good food made fast.”
Which made a lot of sense to me!
Now, Whataburger is finally acknowledging what Texans have been joking- and complaining- about for years: the wait times can get brutal!
Whataburger’s CEO Knows You Complain About the Wait Times
According to a recent interview with NRN, Whataburger’s CEO, Debbie Stroude says the company is aware customers are frustrated with how long some orders take.

Social media has been full of jokes for years about Whataburger lines wrapping around buildings, especially late at night when it somehow feels like the entire city decided to order burgers at the exact same time.

Whataburger Says It’s Trying To Speed Things Up
The company part of the issue comes from its made-to-order approach. Unlike some fast-food spots that have burgers sitting under heat lamps, Whataburger cooks food fresh after customers order.
That’s part of why so many Texans (myself included) defend the chain so passionately.
Because yes, it may take forever- but that patty melt at midnight somehow still feels worth it!
According to the report, the company is now working on improving kitchen systems and workflows in hopes of cutting down drive-thru times.
Waiting Forever At Whataburger Is Basically Texas Culture
The funniest part about this whole conversation is that complaining about Whataburger wait times has practically become part of Texas culture itself.
People will spend 40 minutes in line, swear they’re never coming back, and then somehow end up back in the same drive-thru three days later ordering taquitos.
It’s basically the Texas version of a toxic relationship!
But while many of us may continue roasting the chain online for slow service, let’s be honest: most of us are probably still pulling into that drive-thru anyway.
