An Iconic, 104 Year Old Fast Food Chain Is Finally Coming To Texas
Harold and Kumar can soon scratch "Big D" off their fast food bucket list as their favorite burgers are coming to Texas. Will El Paso get some?
Remember "Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle"? Well, now they can broaden their horizons a bit and leave, ("flee" is probably a better word), New Jersey for the lone star state.

The first White Castle opened in Wichita, Kan., in 1921. It has since expanded to over 300 locations, but only in the Midwest and East Coast. The restaurant chain's reputation in Texas is entirely derived from its frozen products and mythos, the latter derived from the chain's word-of-mouth reputation and the 2004 film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. - chron
It's hard to believe that this 104 year old company is just now getting around to opening a Texas location but they're one of the few major fast food chains that's still privately owned and they're super picky about when and where they expand.
Seriously. Since 1921, they have only opened 345 restaurants whereas McDonalds, (who first opened 27 years later in 1948), had 41,800 locations as of 2023. Mickey Deez is worldwide while White Castle exists only in the USA and, for the most part, only on the east coast and in the Midwest.
Will El Paso Get A White Castle?
Based on their rate of expansion, I doubt it and, if it does happen, it won't be soon. That's fine with me though 'cuz, as long as we have Whataburger, I'm good.
