Marfa, Texas is so creepy that even the traffic lights operate in the "twilight zone".

Marfa, Texas is a very haunted place, way out in the southwest Texas desert where it's super dark, super remote and home to all kinds of weirdness. (Like a mini Prada store that may, or may not, have inspired a Mammoth album cover.)

Marfa is home to the famous Marfa Mystery Lights and now I'm hearing about a the Marfa Mystery Traffic Light.

Marfa, Texas is .. shall we say ... unique. As I said, it's very remote, tucked away in the Davis Mountains less than 3 hours from El Paso. It's an easy drive and a very cool place to visit. Especially if you're into ghosts and unexplained phenomenon.

If you're into ghost hunting, Marfa is a great place to go hang out. Especially The Hotel Paisano. It's smack in the middle of Marfa, has a ton of history and even a few famous guests like Rock Hudson and James Dean who stayed there while filming "Giant".

It's also haunted AF.

What's The Creepiest Thing In Marfa, Texas?

I used to think it was the famous Marfa Mystery Lights. I've actually stood out there, in the dark as hell west Texas desert and seen them. Very strange. Not scary or anything and no aliens tried to abduct us but, very strange.

Many, including a former NASA scientist, have tried to explain them with no luck at all. That, for me anyway, is no longer Marfa's creepiest thing. A traffic signal is.

What's With The Marfa Traffic Signal?

This story is new to me and I haven't seen it personally but I think I just found something to do next weekend. It's just a traffic signal, in an area with few roads, that does its red, green, yellow, red thing 24/7. With NO power supply.

None. Nada. Zip. Not only is there no power going to this thing, according to that Facebook post, at one point the bulbs were removed. It still worked. The post also says that a traffic engineer looking over footage in 2018 noticed something really creepy.

He noticed drivers braking before the light changed, drivers making the decision to stop the signal activated. Read the post. I don't know if this is true but, the next time I'm in Marfa, I'm absolutely going to look for this signal.
