Texas is known to be one of its kind. We Texans take pride in who we are as individuals and also who we are as a collective. Some may call us weird but we aren't as strange as some of these Texas laws.

NO WIRE CUTTERS IN AUSTIN

I preach "Keep Austin Weird" but this law is strange. You are not allowed to carry around wire cutters in your pocket. It's an old law so people wouldn't cut another rancher's wire fence.

DON'T DRINK STANDING UP IN LEFORS

If you plan to stop by LeFors and have a drink, then this law is one to know. The law states that after 3 sips of beer, you have to take a seat. Texans love our beer, so sit down when you walk in.

NO FLIRTING WITH EYES OR HANDS IN SAN ANTONIO

I guess I can understand this law. If I try to visualize this all I see, is someone trying to flirt with their hand stuck straight by their side and awkwardly avoiding eye contact. Now that I think about it, that is how I flirt.

REQUIRED SPITTOONS IN EL PASO

This does not apply to every building in El Paso. It just states for halls, hotels, banks, stores, train depots, and saloons. Can you tell how old this law is?

NO THROWING OF CONFETTI, RUBBER BALLS, OR FIRECRACKERS IN BORGER

They must not want us to have any fun in Borger. What else am I supposed to throw then, a ball?

Even though these laws aren’t enforced or have been overwritten by recent ones, they still technically exist as laws. I'm just glad I can still carry my wire cutters in the Permian Basin, whew!

The Legendary Stories Behind These Six Weird Texas Town Names

It's no secret that Texas is home to some pretty strange town names. While the names of these places are strange enough on their own, sometimes the story behind the name is even stranger.
