Apparently, Toan Hoang Phuc Tran, a 19-year-old male living in college station, had broken into the home earlier in the day. During that initial break in, according to Tran, he stole some property, and he took the stolen goods back to his home. He then returned to the scene of the crime and hid in the victim's attic where he was found by police.

Tran admitted to all of the alleged crimes, and he also provided the investigating officers permission to search his home in order to recover the items that he stole from the Robinson home.
