It is no secret.  I am a hot chocolate fanatic.  Sure, I love great coffee.  I will indulge in a tasty tea.  Yet, for me, there is nothing like hot chocolate especially this time of year. This weekend with all the parades and other holiday events, nothing goes better with all of the festivities, than hot chocolate.

Recently, in Oklahoma City, a brand-new hot cocoa bar is opening in popular downtown gathering spot Scissortail Park.  What a great idea for San Angelo.

OKC's "The Cocoa Bar" is open during the holiday season at their special cocoa "cottage". The bar offers coffee, hot cocoa, hot cider, and holiday snacks perfect for shoppers enjoying the Christmas attractions.

San Angelo's Tour of Lights would be a perfect location for a cocoa bar.  People downtown enjoying the lights and the holiday fun could pop in for a hot chocolate or coffee. It could be a perfect holiday spot for all things holiday not just hot chocolate, but Christmas cookies, eggnog, and fruitcake. Perhaps the profits could benefit a worthy charity in the area.

Don't get me wrong, there are already a lot of great options for hot chocolate in San Angelo.

Starbucks, The Latest Scoop, Stango's Coffee Shop, and even Ihop and Denny's serve hot chocolate.  Yet, what we really need  in San Angelo is a holiday-themed spot that puts the hot chocolate front and center.

In the absence of that, another great idea is to throw a hot cocoa party. Social media is full of ideas.  Turn your regular holiday get-together into a chocolatey festival sure to cause your friends to buzz all year long. Find some great ideas here:

Host a Hot Chocolate Bar Party

Think a hot cocoa party would be no fun for those who like "adult" beverages, think again. There are tons of incredible hot cocoa beverages you can make with alcohol.

There's Kahlua Hot Chocolate, Peppermint Schnapps Hot Chocolate, Bailey's Hot Chocolate, and the Peppermint Patty. There are loads of other famous hot drinks you can add just to keep the "hot" theme, like Spiked Apple Cider, Amaretto Coffee, a Hot Buttered Run, or Mulled Wine.

There's only one potential downside to creating a cocoa bar in San Angelo. What if, this is one of those years when it's nearly 80 degrees for most of the Christmas season?  I guess you would then have to improvise or come up with some incredible marketing.

I hope if that happens,  they call us to help.
