2025 was a tough year when it came to a lot of our favorite places in Amarillo closing their doors. Consumer spending has been down due to rising costs, and sadly, that means even our most beloved places end up suffering.

I know my family has definitely eaten out less and less over the last year, and I'm not talking about just sit-down restaurants. Doing things like ordering pizza, either for fun or convenience, after a long evening, has decreased for us.

Pizza Hut To Close 250+ Stores

It turns out we aren't the only ones. In the 4th quarter of 2025, Pizza Hut found its sales overall down by 3%. Now, this is kind of two-fold because the 4th quarter is Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Many are spending their money on gifts for the holidays.

However, it's also a time when people find themselves with less time because they're so busy getting ready for those same holidays. Convenience and saving time are big things during that time of year. It wasn't enough for Pizza Hut, unfortunately. Because of it, Pizza Hut is planning on closing over 250 stores around the United States.

Will Amarillo Lose Any Locations

Looking at Pizza Hut's website, it shows we have eight locations in Amarillo alone, and one in Canyon. It would be hard to imagine the lone Canyon location closing, so that one should be safe.

However, with eight locations in Amarillo, there is potential for one of them to close. We haven't heard any official word as far as a store closings list, so no confirmation, but for how small Amarillo is, I'd say there is a chance one shuts its doors. Houston is more likely to lose at least a couple of stores, as the website shows them with a stunning 122 locations.

We'll keep an ear out and eyes open for any news on Amarillo locations.
