This is why you can never be too cautious while navigating the interstates here in Texas. It’s also why I avoid traveling on them at all costs. I almost always take the backroads, especially when I’m headed to Central Texas.

Once, when my family and I were in Austin a few years ago, we had to get back to Wichita Falls as quickly as possible. So, we bit the bullet and took I-35. But the traffic was so heavy in Waco and Fort Worth that we saved very little time versus taking US 281, which is our usual route.

READ NEXT: Video Shows the Nightmare That is Dallas-Fort Worth Traffic

I expected traffic to be bad in Fort Worth, but it had been so long since I had been through Waco, I was caught off guard by it being at a standstill there. It took longer to get through there than it did to get through the Metroplex.

So, I wasn’t the least bit surprised when I saw the video below showing a multiple-car pileup on I-35 in Waco. Because no matter how heavy the traffic is, everyone is traveling bumper-to-bumper at a high rate of speed. When traffic is like that, all it takes is one quick brake check to bring traffic to a screeching halt. Hopefully, everyone involved is okay.
