Robot in Cowboy Hat Running Through Downtown Austin Caught on Camera
When I first saw the video below, I was certain that the little cowboy robot was computer-generated or possibly an image created with artificial intelligence, since we have been inundated with that kind of content lately. Most of us have seen the Boston Dynamics videos where robots run, jump, and get up when they fall, but those videos are always filmed in a laboratory. I have never seen one of these rascals running amok in the wild.

But then I stumbled across the video below. It's the same robot wearing a cowboy hat tooling around in a mall. But it is not some sort of autonomous creature running around on its own. You can clearly see that the guy behind it has a remote and is controlling it with a joystick.

Regardless, it's still really cool. I had no idea remote-controlled robot buddies were available. I have dreamt of this ever since I saw Star Wars as a kid and was introduced to C3PO and R2D2. As soon as these suckers get cheap enough for me to afford one, you best believe I'm getting a cute robot servant! I mean companion. Robot companion.
