Diboll has always been a caring and nurturing town, and the duck they only refer to as "she" has a fishing line wrapped around her left foot. According to KTRE, city manager Jason Arnold believes it could have come from a fishing lure that was stuck in an area pond.

"She walks with a limp, she swims awkwardly, but she can get away pretty quickly and she flies perfectly. - Jason Arnold

He doesn't think that the duck is in any kind of pain, just mild discomfort. The injury on her left foot could be making her more scared when people approach her.

Since "she" doesn't know that people are trying to help her she does her best to get away from everyone, so it is taking a long time to get her foot the attention that it needs.

Arnold said that they are not giving up, and the capture and line removal are a high priority for the city and the many people in the community. They are doing everything they can to help care for all the ducks and wildlife at our Diboll area parks.

Arnold would like for this to serve as a reminder for all who use the local parks to leave them as you found them as much as possible, and clean your areas before leaving.
