Pure Imagination

Do you remember when you were a kid and your imagination played a major part in your activities? I guess some of this is true today, but there seems to be many more distractions for kids. When some of us were younger we just took a few items and constructed something that lived mostly in our imagination. All it took "back in the day" was some boxes, scrap wood, or even a little mud.

The Top Answer

I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to say that the most popular answer here is "forts". I'm not real sure why so many of us thought we needed a fort, or what we needed protection from, but virtually every type of fort is represent here. There is one "fort" exception I want to make, "The Coffee Table Fort". The Coffee Table Fort is the easiest fort of them all because all you have to do is drape a blanket over a coffee table. Sure, it may not be as defensible as the other forts, but it's a great hideout so hopefully mom forgets about you and doesn't send you to bed.

Dirt Rules!

I was disappointed because my answer didn't appear in some form here. The first thing that sprang to mind for me was the elaborate dirt tracks, roads, and highways that we made for our Matchbox cars. I also distinctly remember a full afternoon being spent on making an underground tunnel for the cars to travel through. I'm going to go ahead right now and say that our engineering wasn't that great and the structure collapsed numerous times, fortunately no lives were lost.
