When stories like this surface in Texas, it’s not just another headline. It’s a reminder that trust, especially in licensed professions, must be protected at all costs.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has issued an emergency order suspending the massage therapist license of Holt Marshall Field of Pflugerville following a pending felony sexual assault charge in Travis County.

Emergency Action Taken in Texas

According to TDLR, Field is accused of sexually assaulting a client during a massage session. He was arrested and later released on a $40,000 bond. Court conditions reportedly require that he have no contact with Pflugerville Massage and Skin Care and remain at least 200 yards away.

TDLR stated it received information that Field continued offering massage therapy services after his arrest. Based on the pending criminal charge and concerns for public safety, the agency moved quickly to suspend his license on an emergency basis.

That suspension remains in effect unless a court orders it restored or the criminal case is resolved.

Protecting Public Trust in Texas

TDLR Executive Director Courtney Arbour made it clear:  "There is no place in this profession for anyone who abuses a position of trust."

Massage therapy, like many licensed services in Texas, requires clients to place confidence in trained professionals. When that trust is broken, it damages more than one individual; it harms an entire profession.

TDLR regulates more than one million licensees across 41 programs statewide, conducting regular inspections and oversight to protect Texans.

A Community Responsibility

I’ve written about similar cases across Texas before, and here’s what bothers me most: if we stay silent, nothing changes.

If you suspect illegal activity or exploitation in your community, report it. You can contact local Crime Stoppers, your county Crime Stoppers program, the Texas Department of Public Safety, or law enforcement in your area. Anonymous tips save lives and protect victims.

This isn’t about scandal. It’s about accountability.

Our kids are growing up watching how adults handle wrongdoing. What we tolerate today becomes what they think is normal tomorrow.

And in Texas, protecting people, especially the vulnerable, should never be optional.
