A Whimsical Festival for Families Across Texas

This summer, Abilene once again becomes the Storybook Capital of America as the beloved Children’s Art and Literacy Festival (CALF) returns for its 13th year in a row. From June 12th through the 15th, families from across the Lone Star State will “step into a story,” literally, as downtown Abilene transforms into a world of art, imagination, education, and interactive fun.

New This Year: The Clear Fork Bank Storybook Garden

At the heart of CALF 2025 is something truly special, the unveiling of Phase One of the Clear Fork Bank Storybook Garden, an enchanting outdoor space designed to bring books to life.

The Storybook Garden features sculptures inspired by Matt Phelan’s charming “Leave It to Plum” series and the peaceful “Turtle Walk,” this garden marks a major expansion of the Storybook Sculpture Project. Just look at what the other Storybook Garden looks like now:

The Giving Tree Grows in Abilene

The garden also introduces a brand-new, locally inspired piece: The Storybook Giving Tree by artist Nic Noblique. Modeled after Shel Silverstein’s timeless classic The Giving Tree, this striking installation symbolizes generosity and creativity, values at the heart of CALF and our West Texas community.

Proud to Be a Sponsor and Supporter

As a long-time partner of the CALF, I’m proud to say our station supports this incredible, family-focused event year after year. It’s more than just fun, it’s a celebration of literacy, imagination, and childhood joy.

Why CALF Matters to West Texans

This four-day festival brings parents, kids, and grandparents together for author meet-and-greets, costumed character parades, hands-on activities, and unforgettable memories. It’s exactly the kind of hometown magic we love being a part of.

Make Plans for June 12-15

Bring the whole family downtown, stroll through the garden, and discover what makes Abilene’s CALF a national treasure. The stories, the sculptures, and the smiles are waiting, and we’ll be right there alongside you.
